What position do you find yourself in when you make a decision?

One of the great promises that the followers of Jesus have is knowing that God says in His word that all things work together for the good of those who love Him. This is of great hope, but does not invalidate the reality that we are responsible for asking God to reveal His will so we can actually do it.

Sometimes we make decisions on our own, judging the circumstances by how our heart feels or what our mind thinks that it would be best for us. Many times we make choices that are linked to our love for material things, to a fleeting emotion, or to our pride.

When our plans are not God's will, our personal failure will “work for the good," and it will get us in the position we should have taken before taking the decision ... I mean, on our knees before God, seeking His will and not ours.

In the letter to the Colossians, the apostle Paul explains that we must pray that we "be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord, to please him at all, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. "

Better to ask God to hear His will before making decisions on our own. Let us be obedient and follow the direction that Jesus Christ gives us.

Una de las grandes promesas que tenemos los seguidores de Jesús es saber que Dios dice en Su palabra que para los que aman a Dios, todo obra para bien. Esto es de gran esperanza, pero no invalida la realidad de que somos responsables por pedir a Dios que revele Su voluntad y así poder llevarla a cabo.

A veces tomamos decisiones por nuestra propia cuenta, juzgando las circunstancias según lo que nuestro corazón siente o lo que nuestra mente calcula que sería lo que más nos conviene. Muchas veces tomamos decisiones que van ligadas al amor por las cosas materiales, a una emoción pasajera o a nuestro orgullo.

Cuando nuestros planes no son la voluntad de Dios, el tropiezo "obrará para bien," ya que nos hará llegar a la posición que debimos haber adoptado antes de tomar la decisión... y me refiero a la posición de postrarnos DE RODILLAS DELANTE DE DIOS buscando Su voluntad y no la nuestra.

En la carta a los Colosenses, el apóstol Pablo explica que debemos orar para pedir que "seáis llenos del conocimiento de su voluntad, en toda sabiduría e inteligencia espiritual;
Para que andéis como es digno del Señor, agradándo le en todo, fructificando en toda buena obra, y creciendo en el conocimiento de Dios."
Mejor es pedirle a Dios que escuchemos Su voluntad antes de tomar decisiones por nuestra propia cuenta. Seamos obedientes y sigamos la dirección que Jesucristo nos da.
