Have you ever asked yourself why all media such as TV, the internet, magazines and video games glorify all that is SEXUAL and THE LOVE FOR MONEY?

It is almost impossible to watch a commercial on television, watch a movie, see the front page of a newspaper or open Yahoo or MSN on the internet without seeing a sexual reference or one about the power of wealth. It is everywhere. It only takes having a glimpse at the movies playing at the theater to see that most of them are about sexual relations outside of marriage and how people love money. It is so common, that precisely most people are used to being exposed to this style of living, that they even defend it by saying that it´s sort of normal and part of everyday life.
What does God say about all of this sexual perversion and greed? “But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for the Lord’s people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” Ephesians 5:3-10

If the Apostle Paul gave emphasis to the seriousness of these sins by comparing them to the sin of idolatry, and warns us not to even joke about such things nor participate with those who do them, How then do we expect to have a closer communion with His Holy Spirit when we put God aside so we don’t miss Hollywood´s latest?

The father of all lies has no need to hide such sin when the sons of God would rather feed our flesh by not resisting the constant blast from the media. As sons of God, we are responsible for pleasing God and not grieve the Holy Spirit. We must not open our mouths to joke around with an effeminate voice or other sexual perversion and we must not glorify what others do to about their love for money. Many believers are fast to label this stance as legalistic, but the Apostle Paul clearly encourages us to let the Holy Spirit fill us and control us (Ephesians 5:18,) but if we are not even sincere to admit that we have let our flesh control us all the way to the movie theater, How then can we expect to please God? “…and lead us not into temptation.”
